The Clever Belovers:

Mimi Mouse Learns How to Read

Long time ago, Mimi Mouse was three years old orphan mouse girl who got sent away by her Polish Jewish parents into the woods at the future 2005 timeline using a time machine before her parents died in a house on fire at Warsaw, Poland at 1945 during the World War. She survived in the woods and wandered around to find a place to sleep and eat. This is before she found an abandoned cottage where the sentient flowers lived. When she enters, she was approached by these flowers that are alive and the forest animals. When they are thirsty, Mimi showed her kindness by giving water to the flowers using a watering can to rehydrate them. Next, she leads the forest animals to the huge spring lake by huge waterfalls so they can drink some spring water.

Next day, Mimi was heading to the library outside of the woods while she was accompanied by her few animal friends: the bird, squirrel and the horse. This library is a perfect place for her to learn and her passion for reading. It has trillion of books that you can find something interesting for you to read. It is approximately eight trillion, six billion, seven hundred fifty-eight books so you can find any kinds of books that you like to read.

In the library, the teacher is working in the library to teach the kids how to read so Mimi joins in and participate. This teacher named Ms. Fulvia Opal. She is a kind, child-loving, smart mink whose fur is white as snow, her eyes are blue as the sky and her hair is yellow as the sun. Mimi started to love going to the library and learn how to read with the help of Ms. Fulvia.

It took two weeks for her to learn how to read by Ms. Fulvia and Mimi was happy to have her around. Mimi learns how to read words from left to right and also to pronounce them correctly. Especially, she learn the ABCs. After the reading and letter lessons, Ms. Fulvia asked her with her curiosity, “Mimi, I had a question I’ve been wanting to ask you for long time. Why are you so alone for long time? Where are your mommy and daddy?”

“I don’t have Mommy and Daddy. They died in my house on fire last two weeks ago. The men of the war tried to wiped out every Jewish people including me and my family. They sent me away to here just to sacrifice themselves for me. While I was alone in the woods, I found a new home and my new friends as my family.”

“Who are they then?”

“The flowers that are alive and my good animal friends.”

“Are you sure about this? Nobody seen flowers that are alive.”

“I can show you my house and my friends if you had time.”

Later at Mimi’s cottage, Mimi Mouse took Ms. Fulvia inside and show her her friends that she was talking about. The flowers and the forest animals show up and approach them much to Ms. Fulvia’s surprise. She realized how friendly and responsible they are to Mimi.

Mimi explained, “You see, Ms. Fulvia? They are the ones who help me survive by eating berries, eggs, carrots and apples. The flowers also taught me how to garden and harvest crops. And you, you can help them take care of me and teach me how to read more so I am ready to read all the books I liked to educate myself.”

“Mimi, that would be wonderful for your life and you are a special, independent young girl you are. And of course I can take care of you and help you grow faster so you can be more smarter and independent despite your age. For now on, I would make you my student at my kindergarten where you will be most welcome to learn anything I teach you. Especially reading that you might be interested in the most. Also, you can have new friends at kindergarten so you are not alone anymore. I love to support you and your life, Mimi Mouse.”

During one month of Mimi’s new life at Ms. Fulvia’s kindergarten, she finally learned how to read properly and she felt very happy and well-developed before her birthday at March 5th where she turned 4 years old and she still continue reading books at both in kindergarten and at home. She reads several, various books including “The Joy Luck Club” by Amy Tan, “Aliens Ate My Homework” by Bruce Coville and “The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Everyday after kindergarten, Mimi went to the library to read more books and she earned the permission to borrow and take these books home in two weeks until she has to return them by a due date. Sometimes, she go by herself, sometimes with Ms. Fulvia, sometimes with her animal friends and sometimes they all go together. Four years later, Mimi Mouse is now eight years old and she became a mature, sweet, kind, compassionate, sympathetic, empathetic and smart with her passion for reading that never last forever. Not only she learns how to read, but also she knows how to cook, clean and helping others in need.

During that time, she missed Ms. Fulvia from long time ago ever since by the time she turned eight, she was transferred and got enrolled to elementary school due to her special intelligence and well-developed skills. Mimi will never forget her as her favorite sweet reading teacher and a motherly figure to her. She will never forget nor abandon her passion for reading. During her free time, she likes to read books to her animal friends, flowers and sometimes to herself. Reading is a part of her daily life.

Always remember, reading is very important for our daily life and it helped us learn words, things and anything that might interest us. You will soon realize that reading helps us develop throughout the years as we grow. Of course, it inspired some readers to become authors just like their favorite writers. Reading is fun and helpful for us to learn words and things we want to know.

The End.

This is a short Clever Belovers backstory of Mimi Mouse when she was 3 years old and it shows how she learned how to read when she got sent away to the future by her Polish Jewish parents. It was Miss Fulvia the white mink who is the reading teacher at the library and kindergarten. She was the character inspiration of Miss Honey from Matilda while Mimi is the inspiration of Matilda Wormwood.

It shows how she grew passionate to reading and she grew up to become more independent, smart, brave and mature despite her young age.

Note: This is my writing project for my class at college of Spring semester is Improved Writing class. The theme I chose for my individual project is Reading.
